My Role at BCS

I serve as a senior manager in the tax department.  Most of my work centers around individuals, trusts, and estates, and I both sign tax returns and help other signers manage their tax returns.  This means I get opportunities to interact with different types of clients each day.  Because I work with trusts and estates, those clients are often filled with uncertainty and apprehension.  It is my job to assure them that they are in good hands at BCS.  I also like helping taxpayers understand the “why” of the numbers on the tax return.  To me, being a CPA ultimately means being a good communicator.

I also play a role in the department at large as the Director of Training and Development.  As BCS grows, it becomes even more important to train our employees.  BCS values teamwork and client service, and it is my job to ensure that the people of BCS develop the skills that help us serve the community well.

Education and Experience

I earned my BBA and MAcc degrees at ETSU, graduating in 2006 and 2007, respectively.  I have been working at BCS since I started as an intern here in 2006.  I began my full-time career at BCS as an auditor in 2008, passed the CPA exam in 2009, and transitioned to the tax department in 2010.  I am a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA).

Community Involvement and Personal Notes

My husband Robbie and I live in Elizabethton, where we love to run and hike.  If we get a chance to be outside, we take it!  I enjoy reading, camping, paddleboarding, and family time.  I am a member of Southside Christian Church and serve in youth ministry and women’s ministry there.  I am a board member for Brother’s Keeper, an education and enrichment program for adults with intellectual disabilities.

I was a participant in the Carter County Leadership Program and was recognized by The Business Journal as a Forty Under 40 recipient for business leaders.  I was honored to receive our firm’s 2021 Core Value Award for Balance in the tax department.
