Electronically Filing and Paying TN Business Tax Licenses

By Jenny Bowman

As we are all well aware by now the TN Department of Revenue has changed the filing dates for Business Tax Licenses and we are ALL required to file and pay electronically.  So where and how do we do this?  Most of you received a letter notifying you of the changes, this letter also includes your account numbers on the back of the form.

Go to the TN Business Tax website https://apps.tn.gov/biztax/, it looks like this:

EXISTING USERS: If you have paid Sales & Use Tax online you will use the same user name and password to log into this website…just select Go to Log In in the upper right hand corner.

Capture 2 Go to Log in

You may have to add service by selecting Add City and County Business Tax Service if your account does not have the Business Tax Service selected.

This looks just like the  paper return… type in your numbers and select continue, you will then be able to review the return before filing.

You will be able to edit the return, save and close to finish at a later time or continue to payment.

Capture 17 continue

Your payment due will automatically come up at the top and you can select your payment to be drafted from your bank account (at no cost) or your credit card (2.49% processing fee).  If you file your return 2-62 days in advance and enter a settlement date as to when you would like to have your funds withdrawn form your account…providing you are using the ACH option.

Capture 19 certify

You will certify the information is correct, this is the last chance you have to edit filing or payment information. Once you certify you will receive the confirmation number with the business tax return you will need to print a copy of this for your records.  You are now ready to log out or continue to your next return.

If you have questions and need assistance because your account number is not being accepted electronically, please call 800-342-1003, select option #3, then #2.
