“My internship at BCS did a great job of combining meaningful, hands-on work with the things I had learned in the classroom at ETSU; I was able to see how auditing concepts are actually applied in the field. The auditors and staff were always helpful and open to my many questions, and the experience as a whole guided me towards pursuing a career in public accounting.”

- Brandy Stykes,
Staff Accountant

Accounting Intern

Responsibilities

As an intern at BCS the opportunity before you is to grow and learn in the role generally a staff accountant would portray. Work assignments are provided by In-Charge level accountants and above; Sustained growth in knowledge and ability is the objective for all our interns. At BCS we trust that our interns will be timely, dedicated and bring a positive attitude to the workplace. Interns are expected to ask questions, inquire as to why certain tasks are being performed and grow as professionals. BCS has a strong history of using the intern program as a stepping stone to full time employment with the firm and view the period as an evaluative tool for both the intern and the firm.

Qualifications

No specific prior working experience is required to become an intern at BCS although the process is generally competitive. Students with a stated major in Accounting in at least their sophomore year are considered for positions. Grade point average, extracurricular activities and a desire for a career in public accounting are all considered in the evaluative and interview process.

Timetable

BCS is always accepting resumes for intern positions. New internship opportunities are generally filled in three periods of the year (Spring – November/December, Summer – April/May and Fall – July/August).
